DOES JAWS REALLY EXIST

A stunning picture shows a 10ft predator thrashing about with two massive chunks missing on either side of its body, off the Queensland coast.

Experts said its rival may be 20ft (about six metres) long, judging by the size of the huge bites.

NOAA's look on how the tsunami propagated out towards land

Surfline's Fall/Winter Western Atlantic Outlook

US East Coast
The storm track during moderate El Niño events is typically from southeastern US towards the Canadian Maritimes. This is favorable for breaks in the Mid Atlantic and Northeast regions, where we may see a return of the nor'easter as opposed to the repeating S windswell events we saw last winter when the primarily storm track was inland over the Great Lakes.

Also, for the snowboarders out there, recent research suggest an increase in the frequency of occurrence of heavy snowfall events for the northeastern US, associated with the increased EC storm track during an El Niño episode.

The east coast of Florida is hit or miss depending on the storm track for each specific system - a favorably placed nor'easter can send down quality N/NE swells or we may watching out for the notorious 'NW windswell' events for the South FL region.

Caribbean
With the jet stream and associated storm track at a lower latitude during an El Niño event, we typically see low pressure systems track northward along/just offshore of the US East Coast. Gusty NW winds behind these exiting systems means the Caribbean region will generally see a rather consistent run of NW swells. As a result, the cards are lining up for this to be a good winter for the breaks in the Caribbean that like NW swell.

In conclusion, it appears this winter has the potential to be a good one for spots across the western half of the Atlantic basin. Keep an eye on the forecasts as we'll certainly dial you into and help you score the best surf conditions possible wherever you may be.

Expose de Ocean Tragic

WE WILL BE FEATURING A WEEKLY RANT, RAVE ETC BY THE LURKING CLASS HERO EVERY WEEK HERE ON STRANGEDAY. BE SURE TO CHECK IN WEEKLY TO READ WHAT KIND OF NONSENSE HE WRITES ABOUT. THIS WEEK IS REALLY INTERESTING. HAVE A READ!!

When most of us walk into a surf shop, we think they support its staff and customers one hundred percent. Thats not case for Ocean Magic Surf Shop, I know because I was hired, and fired from the corpo. bullshit that is OM. Not only am I going to tell you whats really going on, Im going to give you a behind the scenes look into the world of Ocean Magic.

Typically, working there you would think a surf shop would support individuality and freedom because that is what surfers stand for right? Well, thats what I thought too, but I was wrong. When the Owner approached me to work there He said I was "highly recognized in the surf scene in our town" and "I would look good working there", I bought it, I was in. After all, some of my friends worked there as well. He persuaded me with a fancy dinner at Duffys Sports bar and his VIP card, telling me how I could work up to be "manager", and be "shop sponsored". My job worries were over. I would be working in the industry of the sport I loved. I was going to work for a pretty decent shop I thought, I could get free swag, and have the leniency of a boss who surfed. I was wrong, again.

Soon, after I started working I realized it wasn't what I expected. I would wear clothes to my style, not outlandish, but more "scene" and different (i was never a fan of surf brand wear), typically stuff people thought was weird I liked. I thought it was OK, I was expressing myself, in a surf shop that "supports" expression. Not the case, I was ridiculed by the owner for expressing myself in my own way. Upset that I wasn't wearing "clothes to his standards" my hours began to diminish.

If you know anything about surf shops you know that most employees if not ALL, get hooked up to some standards by companies. Employees would get free clothes, gear , etc.. for working and also to help support what the shop sold. Well, in my case I did NOT get hooked up, while I watched everyone around me GET hooked up. Unfair? yes. I was doing my job, correctly and efficiently there was no reason for me to never get anything. Which brings me to my story about swag.

Having worked there for over several months now I took care of all the skateboard buying and ordering and such and became pretty tight with the skate companies. So, in turn, they the companies would give me swag (free boards, whatever). I thought FINALLY, I'm getting hooked up like everyone else , I can stop bitching and moaning. Until, my free stuff started "disappearing". I would call the companies and ask "hey did you send this..or that.." an they would reassure me it was in the box prior. I was shocked I had never received anything. Turns out, the owner was selling MY FREE STUFF on the floor. I was livid. While everyone around me is getting tons of free shit the free shit I manage to get , GETS SOLD? I had had enough.

Not only was working there full of false promises, it failed to give back to the surfing community like I had imagined. While other surf shops in town were donating large amounts of quality goods (surfboards , clothes, DVDs etc...) to contests and events. Ocean Magic would donate a washed up out of style backpack, or some wax and stickers. Granted it was SOMETHING, but come on, the guy rakes in well over enough to hand out some decent goods for his "loyal" customers. (mostly tourists and kooks)

By the time all of this occurred I had pondered quitting and shitting on his doorstep, but I thought shit what the hell, Ill just fuck off on the clock and see how much this dick can take before he fires me. Soon enough he indirectly tells me my style sucked, and after selling all my free stuff I began to boycott. I would show up to work, always on time, but instead of vacuuming, or cleaning the toilets, or re-folding merchandise five thousand times I simply sat back, texted on the john, mocked the mirrors and watched his life boil. I did nothing for the last month. I cruised, I watched DVDS, I played with skate boards and surf boards. I tried on this and that. I was over it, I mentally quit. I was just seeing how long I could get paid to hang out and piss this has been off.

Finally after a busy day of of him over pricing goods to support his three beach front houses, him shafting locals and watching me do absolutely nothing, and him doing all the work he got sick of it wanted to let me go. But no, this dick couldn't fire me personally, he had to get at the time one of my good friends to let me go. Which to me is the pussiest move a boss can do.

In conclusion , I never changed my style or who I was for I am me and don't need a shop to tell me otherwise. I was indeed finally fired from this nightmare and I learned my lesson. To support real local shops that give back to the community and not shaft its buyers. Not only do local shops understand the economy by refusing to price gouge , they offer their unconditional support to the sport and their community.
